The purpose of this ministry is to help children between the age of 3 through the fifth grade develop a listening ear for the Spirit of God. Jesus said, " ... and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. And when he puts forth his own sheep,he goes out before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." John 10:3-5
Just as we teach our children to beware of strangers because of the harm they can lead them into, it is our goal to know and teach Jesus Christ so well, that their spirit will be gifted with discernment; that they will be able to choose that right thing, realizing God's purpose for them is to have a healthy and prosperous life, rich in His mercy and grace and gifts.
We expect the children to mature from not only, 'because God says so", to truly knowing and loving the Father so much, they will serve Him all the days of their lives; that the scriptures will become more than print on a page, but that the Spirit of God will write on their hearts.
When these children can grasp how much the Father loves them, and they grow in their love for Him, a spiritual maturity will evolve that will enable them to live above their life situation. As they mature in Christ, these children will become lions, bold in their witness, confident that the Spirit of God will lead them and guide them into all truth. "The wicked flee when no man pursues: but the righteous are bold as a lion." Proverbs 28:1
And finally, we realize that in the natural world lions and lambs are opposed to one another, one is predator and one is prey, but we are not of this world. We want to grow and teach God's love extends to every nation, every color, every social status, that we can be one with the Father, and walk in unity and love as believers.
